Our growers have over 40 years of combined experience growing orchids. Their backgrounds and experience varies widely, as do their nationalities. We hail from Puerto Rico, the United States, and Mexico. In the last few years we have been given the opportunity to travel with Mr. Matsui to the Netherlands, Japan, Hawaii, and throughout California to visit and learn from some of the best orchid growers around, both large and small. We are always striving to learn and improve our growing techniques in order to bring our customers the highest quality products.

Arcadio Ortiz: Born in Puerto Rico, Arcadio came to U.S. as a young man and began in Agriculture in the vegetable fields of Florida. Soon thereafter he came to California and began working in cut flower burseries. He soon moved up to the position of grower and has worked at a number of large cut flower operations here in the Salinas Valley. He has been with Matsui Nursery over 20 years. Orchid growing experience over 6 years here, with extensive experience in large scale production of numerous cut flower crops.

Jose Carrera: Has been with Matsui Nursery for about a year. Over 15 years experience working with orchids. Has experience at one of California's most famous orchid nurseries with phaleanopsis, cymbidiums, cattleya and others. Growing our cymbidiums.

Glenn Gardner: Almost a California Native, Glenn came to California from Michigan with his family at age 2. Graduated from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo with a B.S. in Biology in 1977 and began working with orchids shortly thereafter. Orchid growing experience over 24 years, 5 years here at Matsui Nursery and 19 years with two other well-known Central California orchid nurseries. Extensive experience with paphiopedilum, phragmipedium, and oncidium. Growing oncidiums, dendrobiums, nobile dendrobiums, epidendrum, paphiopedilum and oncidium/odontoglossum intergenerics.
